See below for our Fall 2019 Community Engaged Scholars in CS Orientation schedule.
8:30am – 12:00pm Early Move In
University Center (UC), 5th Floor, OneCard Office
Your Assigned Residence Hall, Front Desk
If you are moving in to the dorms early on Sunday 8/11/2019, you should have already received instructions from our housing office.
Plan to move in between from 8:30am to 12:00pm. The Outside Lands music festival is taking place in nearby Golden Gate Park, so expect heavy traffic.
The OneCard office is closed on Sunday, so you cannot pick up your official student ID card. Instead, go straight to your residence hall front desk and pick up a temporary ID card for access.
If you uploaded a photo for your OneCard (student ID card), we will have your official student ID card for you on the first day of the head start program on Monday, August 12th. You can use this card to access buildings on campus, as well as your flexi meal plan and Dons Dollars.
12:00pm – 1:30pm Welcome Lunch
Lo Schiavo Science (LS), Getty Study (Room 104)
Join us at a welcome lunch for you and your families! We will be joined by CS faculty, current students, and our Associate Dean of Sciences.
The lunch is held in the Lo Schiavo Science building. The full name is John Lo Schiavo, S.J. Center for Science and Innovation, which may be abbreviated as LS or CSI on various maps. We will be in the Getty Study, sometimes referred to as the Getty Lounge or Fireplace Lounge. It is on the first floor near the main entrance, and is visible from the outside.
1:30pm – 2:30pm Campus Tour
Lo Schiavo Science (LS), Getty Study (Room 104)
You and your families are invited to a special campus tour with Ambassador D’Andre Carson, organized just for you! Even if you attended a tour before, this tour will help orient you on campus now that you are moved in and ready to start classes.
The tour will start in the same location as the welcome lunch, and end at the location for the following orientation.
2:30pm – 3:00pm Orientation
Lo Schiavo Science (LS), Room G12 (Garden Level)
You and your families are invited to a brief orientation of the program. You will get more information at the CS Head Start program, New Student and Family Orientation (NSFO), and Orientation for Your Major.
Other Activities
The CS Head Start program (required for scholars) begins on Monday, August 12, 2019 in the same room as orientation. For that schedule, see:
https://scholars.cs.usfca.edu/start2019/
Even though you are moving in early, you should still plan to participate in the Fall 2019 New Student and Family Orientation (NSFO) activities for all incoming students. For that schedule, see:
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1qWyuUzm2rPQSVKZvOMsF0n9lasG1Uxdt/view
Part of those activities is an orientation for the CS major, where you will get more details about the CS major and get another chance to socialize with students and faculty.
