We will go through a brief background on CS and possible career paths within this discipline.

We will have a presentation from Rachel Brunson, Assistant Director of the Learning Center and Haley Riechman (Program Assistant). The Learning Center is USF’s home for academic support services, which are free for all enrolled students.

12:00 – 01:00pm 60m Lunch Break
The Zoom livestream will be left on in case you want to enjoy lunch with the other program participants.
01:00 – 01:30pm Computer Hardware
We will watch Henry Cavil put together a gaming PC as a quick introduction, and then dive into taking apart a computer live, discussing the components, putting it back together again, and making sure it still runs.
01:30 – 02:00pm CS Unplugged
We will do a modified version of Parity Magic exercise from the CS Unplugged website in class.
02:00 – 02:15pm 15m Break

02:15 – 03:00pm Command Line Mystery
In this part, we will use what we have learned to log into the CLI of one of our CS lab computers and solve a command-line murder mystery.
03:00 – 03:30pm 30m Social Break
Time for a social break! We will break into small groups and participate in a social activity.

05:00 – 07:00pm 2h Dinner Break
That is the end of our official program! The livestream will be stopped at this point. After 2 hour break for dinner, we will return to start an optional social.

This is an optional social. We will play Drawful 2 using the same Zoom meeting room as before.
P.S. We will get the social kicked off, but the professor(s) will leave after 15 minutes for the rest of you to enjoy the game.
